Over the past year, many people have considered starting a new life away from the city, looking for a better lifestyle with more spacious homes, less noise, fresh air and surrounded by nature. The pandemic has shown that telecommuting is possible and that this new model can bring multiple benefits to both businesses and employees.

The bad news is that currently a significant part of rural Spain does not even have access to a 4G network.

In a few weeks the long-awaited Next Generation EU funds will start arriving in Spain. Its management is going to be one of the most important challenges that we are going to face as a country, since it will shape the innovation, productivity and efficiency of our economy in the coming years. Specifying the objectives to be achieved with these funds will not be an easy task. It is clear that they are granted to boost the economies damaged by the pandemic by promoting innovative production models. The areas of interest and lines of action have already been defined. And, with great consensus, it is understood that they will be the pillars of the future economy. So far, so good.

The Spanish healthcare system, both the public and private sectors, focuses on healing diseases and hospital care rather than questions such as prevention and primary care. This reality, coupled with its low digital maturity, makes it incapable of handling challenges like the one we currently experience in an effective way.

New European Regulations on 5G Network Security

Possible Strategies and Measures

On the 20th of January 2021, Blue Telecom Consulting (in the following referred to as BlueTC) returned with its live webinar series for mobile operators, telecommunications networks equipment providers, industry analysts and regulators.

This time, our focus was on the new EU 5G Security Toolbox [i], which highlights the need and importance of network security and includes the guidelines which strengthen the role of the national authorities in ensuring operators take security more seriously and implement the toolbox.

During these unprecedented times, from the entire BlueTC Team, we would like to THANK YOU for staying in touch with us throughout 2020!

Early in the year, when news surfaced about a virus, - which quickly evolved into a full blown pandemic -, our way of working and interacting needed rethinking. As a forewarning of what was to come, the GSMA’s Mobile World Congress was the first large, international trade show in our industry to be cancelled. From then on virtual events and meetings became the norm globally.

The benefits of integrating telecommunications in production models have been anticipated for quite some time. Now, no one doubts the potential of connected machines and their positive impact in all social and economic spheres.
